Purpose

Hi, so I'm turning 29 in a month, and as yet, I've accomplished nothing in life, well at least none of the things that I've set out to do. I failed in primary school, failed in secondary school, and failed in post secondary school. I've failed to maintain employment, and I've failed to develop real lasting relationships. I haven't made a billion dollars, and I really haven't done much but fail. And it has been miserable, it really has.

Tony Robbins said "When you feel love, joy, gratitude, awe, playfulness, ease, creativity, drive, caring, growth, curiosity, or appreciation, you're in a beautiful state. In this state, you know exactly what to do, and you do the right thing. In this state, your spirit and your heart are alive, and the best of you comes out. Nothing feels like a problem, and everything flows. You feel no fear or frustration. You're in harmony with your true essence."

Being in a beautiful state seems important. Imagine a life free of anxiety and fear, not wondering how you're going to pay rent, put food on the table, and get along with your peers, let alone wondering whether you can achieve your life's ambitions. The way he says it, Tony Robbins, has it sound like when you are focused on me, myself and I, then you're in a suffering state. And when you're focused on how you can help others, you're in a beautiful state. So my ultimate goal i life is to be of service to others. While I'm not the most intelligent man on the planet, or even the city I live in, and I have achieved very close to nothing of any acclaim, I do feel like I'm in a position to help other people. What I lack in formal education, I make up for with life lessons and determination. I feel like I can help a lot of people, people who want to be better and do better.

Nobody gets rich from writing a blog, really, I have faith that money will come when it is meant to. There's clearly more I need to learn first. I have enough for food and shelter, and there's always going to be a lower standard for each that I can go to if necessary. Really, the important thing is that I feel good, that I stay in a beautiful state. And it's important for you too.

Not only does a suffering state shorten your life, give you health problems, and makes you lose your hair or has it turning grey. But it also makes you miserable. I've lived in some terrible conditions in my life, from living in my car or truck, and having to move it to a new spot every day, wondering where I was going to find a microwave to make lunch, where I could use a toilet and shower, to living in a 50 year old RV on a horse ranch, shoveling much in exchange for rent and slogging through 200 feet of mud to reach the bathroom. I've also had a shed, with a bathroom built onto it, a sort of tiny house. That was actually nice, I liked it there, except for the landlord... But these are all another story. Right now, I rent a room, and struggle through school. And I'm failing. But in all of this, it's becoming clear that I always had the choice of being in the suffering state, and the beautiful state.

When I'm writing about some of the conditions I've lived in, that were less than what society thinks I should have, I feel terrible. But when I'm writing about how I can help others, I feel good. It's really that simple. God bless Tony Robbins, and his incredible wisdom. So many of those guys, Jim Rohn, Bob Proctor, Tony Robbins, Napoleon Hill, Dale Carnegie, the list goes on and on. They exist in a beautiful state, they live to help others. They don't focus on what they can get out of life, but what they can give to the lives of others. Every single one of them drew people to them like a magnet, drew life experiences and even wealth, and that's not what they were trying for. What they were doing, and are doing, is giving of themselves without any expectation of it coming back. Really, we all need to realize that life isn't about what we can get out of it, but what we can give to others'.

Me, I have a few skills, and my strongest by far is writing. And that's the best way I can give. A lifetime of difficult experiences gave rise to incredible life lessons, lessons I can share with others. Life hasn't been great to me, it's fine to acknowledge that. But we all have a choice in how we want to react to our struggles. Maybe you don't have three cars in the driveway, and a 4000 square foot home. But you don't need that to be happy. All any of us need to be happy is to give freely of ourselves, and choose to focus outside of our desires and attend to the well being of others.

The best definition for happiness I've ever read was: "The progressive realization of a worthwhile goal or ideal." So, what is a worthwhile goal? If you think having that new car is your goal then maybe I can't help you all that much. But if you want that new car because you think it will make you happy, then I can help you. You don't need a new car, a new house, not to be happy. Sure, those things would be nice to have, but if the end goal is happiness, then they will not get you there. I think the best goals anyone could have in life is to be happy, to continue growth in all avenues and never stagnate. That's my ambition. to help other people, and in turn myself, find happiness in life.

Find Your Own Path to Success, How I Changed My Life and How You Can Too.

There is no shame in it, if you were never intended to be an employee. A general rule of thumb, if you aren’t working on your own dreams then you are working on someone else’s. I think it’s really important to stop fighting against the current, and to pick a destination downstream. I’ve found from my experience that fighting against the current just keeps me swimming in place, and too I found that if I take the direction I am pushed towards then I can actually pick a destination and make some real progress getting there. Besides, the path to real wealth has always been the path of failure. Failure contains the lessons we need to grow, and shows us which directions we really need to travel in. This way, when we find success in our endeavors, we can double down and repeat it. I have often heard that the process of becoming truly wealthy is boring, taking the same simple process and repeating it hundreds, thousands, even millions of times.      ...

Ahmed The Upolster

We had someone over to fix the couch today, his name was Ahmed, from Jordan. Which if you didn't know, is near Egypt. He was North African, and a pretty cool dude. He said, since the age of eleven, he has been an upholsterer, but they had to close the business, because everyone buys things from IKEA now.      You know, people in skilled trades have fewer and fewer opportunities to succeed. Builders now, they build with wood and not stone, the beautiful buildings of old are not being built anymore. The quality furniture, it's all being replaced with cheaper, almost as good, product. Product that doesn’t  stand the test of time, or have the natural beauty.      The problem is that when you put them next to each other, the well built furniture, the IKEA made in china stuff, they don't look all that much different. But when it comes to longevity, a well built piece of furniture can last hundreds of years, a stone home, even lon...
